Sunsetting Lit V0 (Datil): Migrate to V1 (Naga) Within 30 Days
After five years of building decentralized key management infrastructure, we've reached a major milestone: Lit V1 (Naga) is live and Lit V0 (Datil) will be shut down on February 25, 2026.
This post covers what's changing, why we're making this transition, and how to migrate your applications.
What's Happening
Datil (V0) will be permanently shut down on February 25, 2026.
All three Datil networks—datil-dev, datil-test, and datil mainnet—will cease operations. After this date, any applications still pointing to Datil infrastructure will stop working.
Important: PKPs will not be migrated from Datil to Naga. You'll need to mint new PKPs on the Naga network.
If you're a Vincent Yield user, withdraw your funds before February 25 to avoid losing access to assets held in Datil-based PKP wallets.
Why We're Sunsetting Datil
Naga represents a complete architectural upgrade:
- Sub-second ECDSA signatures — our most performant signing algorithm yet
- Expanded signature support — ECDSA, Schnorr (including ZK variants), and EdDSA across almost any blockchain
- Simplified SDK — viem-based architecture with drop-in PKP accounts that behave like EOAs
- Rust SDK — full 1:1 parity with our JS SDK for Rust developers
- Sustainable economics — ledger-based payments with $LITKEY enable network self-sustainability
Running parallel infrastructure indefinitely isn't viable. Consolidating on Naga lets us focus engineering resources on what matters: making Lit faster, more capable, and more reliable.
Migration Overview
The SDK v7 → v8 migration involves several key changes. The full migration guide covers every change in detail: V7 to V8 Migration Guide
What You Need to Do
For developers:
- Review the migration guide — understand the breaking changes
- Update your dependencies — install @lit-protocol/lit-client, @lit-protocol/networks, @lit-protocol/auth, and viem
- Mint new PKPs on Naga — existing Datil PKPs will not carry over
- Update Lit Actions — change global variable access to jsParams.*
- Test on Naga testnets — nagaDev (free) or nagaTest (paid, for pre-production)
- Deploy to Naga mainnet — fund your ledger with $LITKEY and switch to naga
For Vincent Yield users:
- Withdraw your funds before February 25, 2026 to ensure you retain access to your assets
