This milestone represents years of work to build decentralized infrastructure to power the next generation of decentralized and sovereign apps, protocols, and agents. With the launch, airdrop claiming and staking are now available, and the staking contest to select the genesis validator set has officially started.
This post lays out all of the key details related to the launch, including how to participate in the community launch, claim the airdrop, stake or delegate, and prepare for the upcoming launch of the Lit v1 Mainnet (Naga).
Ignition is Lit
The $LITKEY is now live!. This event has been underway for the past week as veAero voters have cast a record breaking amount of votes to reward the LPs in the WETH/LITKEY pool. Now, with the initial liquidity pool establishes for $LITKEY on Aerodrome, the next phase has begun.

Airdrop Claiming and Staking Are Open
Eligible participants from Season 1 can now claim their airdrop using the Lit Staking Portal. Once claimed, tokens can immediately be staked or delegated to any of the Lit node operators listed on the dashboard.
Delegating your tokens gives you three benefits:
- A 10% bonus, distributed to all stakers and delegators who participate in the staking contest to select the genesis node operator set.
- Access to native staking rewards and additional bonuses once Lit v1 mainnet launches after the staking contest.
- The maximum amount of goverance power per staked token at the time of the veLITKEY model.
If you are not eligible for Season 1, there will be additional opportunities in future airdrop seasons for contributors, builders, and community members to earn rewards for participation and impact.
You can claim and stake at the staking portal starting now: https://staking.litprotocol.com/
Looking Ahead
The staking contest will run for approximately two weeks, during which delegators and node operators will compete for a position in the genesis validator set for the upcoming v1 Mainnet (Naga).
Once the contest concludes, Lit v1 will begin with the network’s initial Distributed Key Generation (DKG), a coordinated process that establishes the initial key set.
Following the launch of v1, LITKEY staking will evolve into veLITKEY and introduce new governance capabilities. Stakers will play an essential role in directing reward emissions to ecosystem projects and guiding the future of protocol development.
